The Worker Isn’t Infinite

2 Corinthians 4:7  But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.(ESV)

Some seasons remind us that the work is real, the responsibility is real, and the pressure is real.  But so are our limits.  Being faithful doesn’t mean pretending we’re made of iron.  Paul says we carry the treasure of Christ in jars of clay, not because God made a mistake, but because the weakness of the vessel keeps pointing back to the strength of the Lord.

There’s no shame in being finite.  The shame would be acting as though the servant must become the Savior.  We can work hard, carry what has been entrusted to us, and give our best to the task in front of us.  But the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

    “The shame would be acting as though the servant must become the Savior.” Ouch, this did it for me this morning.

    This is always a hard message to receive for my “fix it” brain. I know it logically, but getting it down into my soul is the hard part.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor.
