Rest Is Not Retreat

Psalm 127:2 Ā It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.(ESV)

There are seasons when the work is real, the deadlines are real, and the responsibility can’t simply be handed away.  Faithfulness may require early mornings, late nights, difficult decisions, and steady endurance.  But Scripture warns us about eating the bread of anxious toil.  There’s a kind of work that honors God, and there’s a kind of work that slowly teaches the heart to live on pressure.

Rest isn’t retreat when God is the One who commands it.  Rest isn’t laziness when the servant has been faithful.  Rest is an act of trust that reminds us we’re not sustained by our own motion.  We can work hard without worshiping the work.  We can carry responsibility without pretending to be limitless.  The Lord gives sleep to His beloved, and receiving that gift may be one of the most faithful things we do.

I am resting in the Lord in faith . Trusting Him as my hip is painfully like a thorn in my side. As I limp along keeping my thoughts under control, being grateful šŸ™ hope to keep going šŸ¤—

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
