Psalm 42:11 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.(ESV)
Praise does not pretend sorrow is imaginary. The psalmist does not deny the heaviness of his own soul. He confronts it. He questions it. He speaks truth to it. That is not weakness. That is war. There are moments when praise becomes defiance—not against honesty, but against despair. It refuses to let pain become lord. It refuses to let fear write the final word. It refuses to let darkness sit where only God belongs.
Praise does not deny the darkness. It denies the darkness the throne.
