New Year, New Me

Happy new year!

“New year. New me.” I’m sure we’ve all said that at least once in our lives. The bible speaks a lot on the subject of what is new. I could probably write a whole message on each one of these.

Renew the mind:
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.(ESV)

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.(ESV)

Renew strength:
Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.(ESV)

Renew the spirit:
Acts 3:19-20 (19)Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, (20)that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus(ESV)

Renew energy:
Matthew 11:28-30 (28)Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29)Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30)For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”(ESV)

Psalm 23:1-3 (1) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (2) He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. (3) He restores my soul.(ESV)

Most importantly, not just renew but completely new:
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.(ESV)

Ephesians 2:4-5 (4)But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, (5)even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved(ESV)

New year, new me, indeed.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
