Grace in the Wilderness

Lessons in grace found while wandering the wilderness…

Exodus 16:15 (15) When the people of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.(ESV)

Exodus 16:19 (19) And Moses said to them, “Let no one leave any of it over till the morning.”(ESV)

Manna from heaven. The children of Israel were given manna in the morning, quail in the evening, and water from a rock. All of their needs were met. They were told that they could not get too much or not enough. Some gathered a lot while others gathered just a little. There would be exactly enough for every person to get full for the day. Then they were told that they could not store any for the next day.

Of course, they did try to save some. It was rotten the next day.

Grace is exactly the same way. We are given exactly the right amount of grace each day. We can’t borrow from future grace, and we can’t store up grace to have a cushion for later. That’s not how the Lord works. He is always enough for right now.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
