Welcome to Walking with Christ.
This site is documenting my journey with Christ and is in response to a call to be more bold in my faith. I was challenged to share my experiences, the things I learn, and even random thoughts with anyone who will listen. Parts of this will be testimony. Other parts will be pure praise and worship.
I have not gone to seminary and do not promise to have the answers, but I can promise I know who does. I am growing through this journey and don’t expect to get it right every time. I expect that my understanding will grow with time in the Word.
I always invite discussion about God’s Word because iron sharpens iron.
Respond as much or as little as you feel called. Ask questions, publicly or privately, make comments, share concerns, share praise, request prayer, or leave feedback and praise reports. Anything that glorifies our God and Christ is welcome here.
Unless otherwise stated, all verses are listed using the ESV or English Standard Version. Copyright. In most cases, the verses themselves will be clickable links directly to the Bible Gateway site and page where the text for the verse is pulled.
About Me
My name is Don. I’m sure you already know that but that doesn’t tell you anything about me, who I am, what my purpose here is, why I’m doing this, etc.
I’d like to say that I’ve a Christian for my whole life. That would be a lie. My journey from a troubled kid to faith then into the wilderness only for Jesus to leave the ninety-nine for me is anything but a straight line. Most of the details about the who I am and the journey I took to get to this point will be in my testimony page.
This site is the next logical step on a journey to be more bold in my faith. It started out by joining a couple of small groups through our church. I was challenged to be more bold in my faith, so I started a Verse of the Day group at work. That expanded to include an external group as well. Now? I hope to see God use this site to spread the good news to a new audience. I pray that God speaks through my testimony and my walk, which I’m sharing in these pages, to give hope, bring peace, share love, and most importantly to point all glory to Him.
I get none of the credit or praise for this site or these messages. Full stop. God is good! Amen! To Him belongs all glory and praise. If I’m the conduit that lifts another higher, then I’ll sing that much louder about how good the God we serve is. Make no mistake, I’m a recovering sinner, bathed in the precious blood of my savior Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to pay for my sins because He loves the world, and me, so much that He was willing to die to make a way for all of us to get to eternity with Him in heaven.
It’s not my intention to ever be wrong in the theology and doctrine that I use, but that is a very real possibility. I’m human. I’m flawed. I can and do make mistakes. A fool despises correction, and I do not want to be a fool. I ask God to give me wisdom daily. I ask Him to search my heart daily. I thank and praise Him daily because I know that He is in control. I know that He will correct me where I am wrong. When I am wrong, I apologize and repent. So, I apologize to you, dear reader, in advance, for anything I say that does not align with His will and His word. To that end and with that in mind, I strongly encourage every person to test anything said here against the word of God for themselves. Never trust in me when you have the absolute source of truth waiting to show you wonderous things.
I’ve struggled with a lot of things in life. I’ve been foolishly stubborn, but God has been merciful and graceful to show me love even when I was unlovable. He blessed me with an amazing woman who tirelessly worked to remove the rocks preventing fruit from growing. Through this amazing gift of a wife and partner in crime, we’ve been blessed to have three amazing children who are the source of much joy and, impossibly, even more entertainment as they are the reason behind a regular Facebook series called “Adventures in Parenting”. I’ve learned so much living with these amazing people that God knew I would need in my life.
I’m a Software Architect for a construction company, and I have almost twenty years of development experience. I’m a left-handed, abstract thinker in a logically minded position. Make it make sense.
I have associates of arts in Information Technology, a bachelor of arts in Information Science, and a masters of arts in Business Administration from a school that got shut down fraud. I am thankful for the teachers/professors I had while attending. I’m also thankful for my fellow students, some of whom went on to have great careers. I’m also thankful for God using something that the enemy intended for evil and using it for good.
