God’s Standard, Not Ours

Floatie:  Warning in the Word

Hebrews 10:26–27  (26)For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, (27)but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.(ESV)

Romans 6:1–2  (1)What shall we say then?  Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?  (2)By no means!  How can we who died to sin still live in it?(ESV)

Matthew 6:24  No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and money.(ESV)

✒️ Forge:  Sin Becomes a False God

There is no neutral ground when it comes to sin.  Every time you excuse it, minimize it, or numb yourself to its sting, you are not just breaking a rule—you are bowing to another master.

That sin becomes your god.  You may still say the name of Jesus, but your allegiance is elsewhere.  Eve fell while walking with God Himself.  If she could hand authority over to the serpent in a perfect garden, how much more at risk are we in a fallen world?

To feel conviction is mercy.  To ignore it is rebellion.  To lose it altogether is to invite judgment.

⚒️ Anvil:  The Choice We Make

This is the hard truth:  if you continue in sin without conviction, you have chosen it over Christ.  You’ve placed your faith on the shelf and replaced it with an idol.  It does not mean salvation is instantly gone, but it does mean you are playing with fire.

You cannot cling to sin and Christ at the same time.  One will drive out the other.  And if you keep choosing the sin, you are signaling to heaven and hell alike which master you really serve.

Grace is not a license to continue in rebellion.  Grace is the power to walk away from it.  If you refuse that power, you are refusing Him.

🔥 Ember:  My Witness

I’ll be blunt—I have sins that still hound me.  But the weight of conviction terrifies me less than the idea of losing it.  The day I stop caring about my sin is the day I know I’ve traded gods.

I’d rather wrestle with my weakness in tears than drift into numbness with a smile.  Because numbness is the warning siren that I’m slipping from His hands not because He let me go, but because I’ve chosen to walk away.

🌿 Covenant Triumph:  Cling to Christ Alone

The good news is this:  conviction proves you are still alive in Christ.  The Spirit has not abandoned you.  But don’t mistake that conviction for permission to linger.  Run while the warning still burns in your chest.

Every sin you excuse is an altar you build.  Every sin you justify is a prayer to a false god.  Smash those idols before they own you.

Choose Christ.  Every time.  Even if you stumble, choose Him again.  Because salvation is not about perfection—it’s about allegiance.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
