⚓ Floatie: The Faith of a Child
Matthew 18:3–4 (3)and he said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (4)Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.(ESV)
✒️ Forge: Jesus Didn’t Tolerate Children—He Elevated Them
In first-century Jewish culture, children had no status. They weren’t decision-makers. They weren’t consulted. They weren’t honored.
And yet—Jesus called them forward.
He didn’t just heal them or bless them. He used them as living parables.
Mark 10:14–15 (14)But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. (15)Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”(ESV)
Jesus didn’t say children were “next.” He said they were the model for all of us.
Childlike faith isn’t weak. It’s bold. Honest. Unfiltered.
It asks real questions. It trusts without scheming. It worships without ego.
And Jesus didn’t just commend it—He required it.
⚒️ Anvil: You’re Not Too Grown to Bow Low
Many Christians are too mature to be real anymore. Too polished to be messy. Too informed to be amazed.
But Jesus said that unless you turn and become like a child, you won’t enter the kingdom. That’s not a soft metaphor. That’s a gospel warning.
What does childlike faith look like?
- It runs to the Father when afraid—not after figuring it out.
- It asks for help without apology.
- It celebrates small miracles like they’re the biggest thing in the world.
Luke 10:21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.(ESV)
The longer you walk with God, the easier it is to grow arrogant, guarded, or jaded. But if your knowledge has robbed you of awe, it wasn’t wisdom—it was pride.
You don’t graduate from wonder. Not in this Kingdom.
🔥 Ember: The Questions That Made Me a Child Again
My kids ask wild questions. They ask repeatedly.
They ask like they believe I actually know the answer.
They ask like they believe I want to answer.
That’s what childlike faith looks like.
It doesn’t mean never doubting. It means doubting in the presence of the Father.
It means coming back—even after getting burned—because you know who you belong to.
When I started praying like that again—not with polish, but with raw dependence—something broke loose in me.
And for the first time in years, I felt safe in the arms of a Father who wasn’t demanding answers from me…
He was just glad I came home.
🌿 Covenant Triumph: The Kingdom Belongs to the Open-Handed
Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.(ESV)
God doesn’t need your polish. He doesn’t need your control, your credentials, or your curated prayers.
He wants your open hands. Your questions. Your trust. Your wonder.
The gates of the Kingdom don’t swing open for the competent.
They open wide for the dependent.
So unclench your fists. Drop the script. Run to Him.
He’s not just King of kings. He’s Abba.
And He’s never too busy to hold a child who still believes.
