⚓ Floatie:  The Kingship of Christ

Isaiah 9:6–7  (6)For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  (7)Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore.  The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.(ESV)

✒️ Forge:  He Never Came to Be President

Jesus is not a religious figure who got exalted after death.  He is King from the beginning.  Before He was the Lamb, He was the Lord.

Psalm 2:6–9  (6)“As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”  (7)I will tell of the decree:  The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.  (8)Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.  (9)You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”(ESV)

Modern preaching often focuses on Christ as Savior or Teacher.  But He is also King—a title that implies dominion, rule, authority, and the right to judge.

Jesus didn’t inherit the Kingdom after the resurrection.
He brought it with Him when He entered the world.
He declared it in Matthew 4:17, and He displayed it in how He lived:

  • Commanding demons
  • Rebuking storms
  • Reversing death
  • Forgiving sin

These were not miracles of mercy only—they were acts of royal authority.

To follow Jesus is not merely to be saved.  It is to bow the knee.

⚒️ Anvil:  The King Has Commands, Not Suggestions

If Jesus is King, then His words are not optional.
He’s not running a democracy.  He doesn’t negotiate.
His Kingdom is not up for redefinition based on culture, trends, or comfort.

John 18:36–37  (36)Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world.  If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews.  But my kingdom is not from the world.”  (37)Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?”  Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king.  For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth.  Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”(ESV)

This King bears witness to the truth, not to convenience.  He reigns now—not later.  And those who call Him King must live like it.

Practical challenge:

  • Does your prayer life sound like petitioning a King or negotiating with a peer?
  • Are you living with the reverence of someone under royal command, or with the entitlement of someone still on the throne of their own heart?

You cannot receive the peace of His Kingdom without submitting to the rule of His throne.

🔥 Ember:  I’ve Called Him King—But Did I Mean It?

I’ve said, “Jesus is King” so many times.  It rolls off the tongue.
But there were seasons where I spoke it as theology, not lived it as allegiance.

I obeyed when it suited me.
I asked for His blessing but ignored His decrees.
I wore His name, but still wanted veto power.

Then He showed me what it really means to bow.
To surrender control.
To die to self.
To live like He’s not just in charge of the world—but in charge of me.

Now when I say, “Jesus is King,” I don’t mean it as a slogan.
I mean it as a pledge of loyalty.
I mean it as someone who serves at the pleasure of the throne.

🌿 Covenant Triumph:  He Will Reign Forever

Revelation 19:11–16  (11)Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse!  The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.  (12)His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.  (13)He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.  (14)And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.  (15)From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.  He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.  (16)On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.(ESV)

Jesus is not a myth, mascot, or motivator.
He is the King of kings.  He reigns now.  He will reign visibly.
Every knee will bow.

If you bow now in surrender, you bow in mercy.
If you wait, you’ll bow in judgment.

He is coming again—not as the Lamb—but as the Lion.
And His crown will not be made of thorns, but of glory.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
