From Dust to Divinity: Part 4

The Separation of Creation and Proximity to God

Hebrews 2:6-8
(6)It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him,
or the son of man, that you care for him? (7)You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor, (8)putting everything in subjection under his feet.”(ESV)

God is not far from us. But He is not withheld from us either. He is present—and yet, we live under a veil.

This veil is not accidental. It is a designed separation—not to punish, but to prepare.

Because with God, proximity determines responsibility.

Scriptural Foundation

Isaiah 14:12-14
(12)“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! (13)You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; (14)I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’(ESV)

Jude 1:6
And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day(ESV)

1 Peter 1:12
It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.(ESV)

Angels were created in close proximity to the Source. They were not limited in the same way we are. They saw clearly. They knew fully. And when some of them rejected God, their judgment was absolute.

There is no redemption arc for fallen angels—not because God is cruel, but because they sinned with full knowledge and no veil.

Theological Reflection

Scripture places humanity below the angels for a time, but not because we are lesser in value—only that we are further from the Source.

And this distance is not a defect. It is intentional.

It allows us to experience things that angels never could:

  • Confusion
  • Weakness
  • Ignorance
  • Doubt
  • Faith

1 Corinthians 4:9
For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.(ESV)

Creation unfolds like a cosmic drama, and we are the object of divine attention—even from heavenly beings.

Why? Because we’re walking through something they can’t fully comprehend: Limitation.

Theoretical Expansion

If proximity equals responsibility, then the layers of separation in creation reflect the degrees of accountability and the depth of experience:

  • Angels and demons: First layer—created in light, judged with no veil.
  • Humanity: Second layer—created in limitation, judged by faith through grace.

We are the deeper experiment—the longer test. And with that comes a greater potential for glory.

This may be the very truth Lucifer could not accept: That fragile, limited, dust-bound humans would one day be exalted above even the highest angel.

1 Corinthians 6:3
Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!(ESV)

Revelation 3:21
The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.(ESV)

This reversal—weakness becoming strength, limitation becoming exaltation—is the scandal of divine order. And it was always part of the plan.

Closing Thought for This Post

The veil of limitation isn’t your prison. It’s your proving ground.

You were made far from the Source so that when you return, it will not be by instinct, by sight, or by force—but by faith.

And that kind of return is the greatest testimony creation could ever give.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
