When Obedience Feels Small

Matthew 13:31-32  (31)He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field.  (32)It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”(ESV)

Not every act of obedience is loud.

Sometimes it’s not a fiery sermon or a radical life change.  Sometimes it’s just turning off the noise for five minutes to pray.  Or choosing not to speak when you’re angry.  Or offering kindness when no one sees.

The enemy wants you to believe that if it’s not big, it’s not worth it.  But the Kingdom of God doesn’t grow like a wildfire.  It grows like a seed.

God doesn’t need your grand gestures.  He just needs your “yes.”  Even the small ones.  Because every act of obedience—especially the quiet ones—echoes in eternity.

Galatians 6:9  And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.(ESV)

You may not see the fruit today.  But God does.  Stay steady.  Keep planting.  The harvest is coming.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
