Every heartbeat counts. Every breath counts. God knows and has a plan for every moment of our lives. Growth and change can be painful. They can be discouraging at times. It may seem like nothing is changing. It may seem like everything is changing all at once. Whether it’s too much or too little, it’s rarely going to align with how we want it. That might be the hardest part to accept for many people. If this isn’t clear enough, uplifting enough, or encouraging enough, let me be even more explicit with more scriptures.

Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.(ESV)

Psalm 118:17 I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.(ESV)

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.(ESV)

If you still have breath that means that God is not done with you. He still has more in store for you. More lessons, growth, and love. The very breath in your lungs is a gift from God, which is never wasted because every breath you take has a purpose. It’s ok if you don’t know or understand that purpose right now if you remember that breath was meant for you. Even if breathing is all you can manage in the moment, just keep breathing.
