My Cup Overflows

Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.(ESV)

“My cup overflows”. Some Christians seem to have a problem with that part. Yesterday, we spoke about losing blessings because of jealousy towards what flows out of our cups. It’s so easy to become so focused on chasing the overflow that we move our cup and lose site of the One who fills it. Other Christians avoid a full cup because they are afraid of the mess when it overflows. Some people simply get used to their cups being full, and instead of asking for a bigger cup, they throw out what they have in the hopes of watching their cups fill up again.

It’s not just enough to know that your cup is full or overflowing. It’s being content that it is while celebrating the One who fills it. It’s asking for a bigger cup, not so that you have more, but that it will overflow that much more. God’s blessings are meant to spill over and touch lives beyond our own.

God prepared a table for you. If you aren’t sitting at it and drinking from the overflowing cup there, you have to ask yourself why. Could it be worldly distractions or comparison causing you to hesitate? Could it be that you are too busy trying to sit at someone else’s table? Is your cup empty because you moved it or broke it trying to keep what wasn’t yours?

God’s table is prepared specifically for you—trust Him, sit down, and drink deeply from the cup He has filled.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
