Merry Christmas 2024

Philippians 2:5-8 (5)Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, (6)who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, (7)but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. (8)And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.(ESV)

On Christmas Day, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the moment when God stepped into the world He created. This was not merely an act of divine power but an act of obedience, trust, and self-sacrifice. Jesus, fully God, chose to humble Himself and take on human form, entering our broken world as a vulnerable infant. This was the ultimate expression of love for humanity and perfect obedience to the Father’s will.

From the manger to the cross, Jesus’ life was marked by submission to the Father’s plan. His birth fulfilled the prophecy of redemption and began the journey that would lead to His ultimate sacrifice. It was a demonstration of trust in the Father’s purpose, even though it would mean pain and suffering. Through His humility, Jesus taught us the meaning of true love—not a love that seeks its own benefit, but one that gives completely for the sake of others.

As we celebrate today, let us remember that Jesus’ birth was an act of obedience and love that calls us to respond in kind. Just as Christ trusted the Father’s plan and gave of Himself, we are invited to trust God with our lives, to love sacrificially, and to walk in faithful obedience. His example shows us that even the most challenging acts of humility and service can bring about eternal joy and transformation.

This Christmas, may we reflect on the depth of Christ’s love and ask ourselves:

How can we live in greater obedience to God’s will?
How can we show the same sacrificial love that Jesus displayed?
How can we trust God more deeply, knowing He works all things for good?

May the joy of His birth and the hope of His sacrifice fill your heart with peace and purpose. Merry Christmas!

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
