A Time to Rest

2 Corinthians 12:8-10
(8)Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. (9)But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (10)For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.(ESV)

There is a lot going on lately. I have to finally admit that I’m exhausted. This isn’t a new thing to me. I’m not the first person to experience this. We all face seasons of exhaustion. Admitting it, facing it, and embracing it are all very different things. The acknowledgement of the season is the first step. Seeing it for what it is would be the second step. Finally, embracing the season in a new light and finding the joy hidden in these times is the vital last part of the process.

When we are weak, God shines through. His power sustains us through the darkness. More than that, His power can show us new things that we would never have able to see on our own. It’s often only once we have seen the end of ourselves that we truly see the face of God. Our weakness truly invites God’s presence. Since we can no longer rely on our own strength, we are forced to rely on the supernatural strength that can only come from God. We have to admit that we need help with even the most basic of tasks at times. When we admit that we are not able to do this on our own then we open ourselves up to His help.

As we move forward, we must pray for His strength in our weak moments. Our strength will always fail. We will always fall just short. When we reach our end and lean on the strength of God, His grace will sustain us. So, rest. Allow His power to be perfected in our weakness. We shouldn’t let our own stubborn self-reliance prevent us from seeing the true glory of His grace and mercy. Be at peace by letting God take control and putting all worries at His feet.

Father,
Thank You for Your strength that is made perfect in our weakness. Thank You for Your grace to rescue us from our own limitations. Help us to lean on You and trust in You, knowing that Your grace is enough. Let us experience Your power and peace as we walk through life’s challenges.

In Jesus’ name we pray, amen!

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
