The Truth in the Lie

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Lies all have a single goal which is to prevent people from finding the truth. The method and motivation behind why this is done might change but the goal is always the same. If the lie can be used to cause confusion then the truth becomes hidden and harder to find. Once the level of confusion has gotten high enough it’s impossible to tell the difference between truth and lie, or friend and foe.

2 Corinthians 11:13-14
(13)For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. (14)And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

There certainly are some who will lie knowing full well that it’s a lie, but it’s important to remember that the vast majority of people who do not speak truth are merely confused because they actually believe what they say to be truth. Our enemy, Satan, certainly wants us to believe the lies. The more confusion the better. This is the greatest scheme of the enemy.

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

We put on the armor of God to help us find our way. It protects us from being lost because it comes with a built in compass.

1 Corinthians 14:33
[a]For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
