Galatians 5:1
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.(ESV)
We can be free or we can be slaves, but we can’t be both. If we are free then we should choose to remain free. This was part of the gift Christ paid for with His blood on the cross. If we would choose to be a slave, then let us be a slave to Christ. The alternatives should be unthinkable.
If we do not want to be free or a slave to Christ, then we can either be a slave to sin or a slave to the law. If we are a slave to sin, we reject the gift of salvation. We return to the slavery we knew before we turned to Christ. This is like a starving person declining a full buffet because the food is too good. The other option for slavery is to be a slave to the law. If we are a slave to the law, we are bound to the whole law. Human history has proven countless times that we are not capable of maintaining the whole law. I would bet that not many actually know the full law. That isn’t an excuse according to the law.
Slave to Christ, freedom, slave to the law, or slave to sin. Two paths lead to eternal reward. The other two lead to eternity in hell. Choose wisely.
