Walking With Christ

Philippians 1:27-28 (27)Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. (28)Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself.(NLT)

Sometimes it’s a great idea to read more than one translation. The ESV, in the first part of 27, says to be worthy of the gospel. The connotation of the NLT, to me, is a bit deeper. I’m a citizen of heaven. I’m a citizen of His kingdom in a foreign land. That makes me an ambassador to everyone I meet on my journey. As an ambassador to His kingdom, how should I act? What do I want people to see about my homeland that they might only see through my actions and words? How good of a job do I do representing all that it means to be a citizen of this amazing kingdom? How best do I tell them that they are openly and freely invited to become citizens themselves?
