Live For Today

You can’t warm yourself with yesterday’s fire or eat tomorrow’s food. There is no real comfort in the past. You can’t get nourishment from the future.

The lessons learned in the past can inform your present which shapes your future but should not become an anchor that prevents forward progress. Remember that not all lessons are worth carrying into the future.

Philippians 3:13-14 (13)Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, (14)I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.(ESV)

We can’t know what tomorrow holds. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. We are not guaranteed the next minute. All we have is right now.

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.(ESV)

James 4:13-14 (13)Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— (14)yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.(ESV)

Proverbs 27:1 Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.(ESV)

Focus on today. Trust in God’s provision for today. Seek God daily.

Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.(ESV)

Exodus 16:19-20 (19)And Moses said to them, “Let no one leave any of it over till the morning.” (20)But they did not listen to Moses. Some left part of it till the morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them.(ESV)

Lamentations 3:22-23 (22)The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; (23)they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.(ESV)

Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.(ESV)

Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.(ESV)

Living in the present moment leaves us far more open to hearing His voice and walking in His will.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
