Bored To Death

Have you ever heard the saying “bored to death”? Did you know that Paul actually did bore someone to death?

Acts 20:9 And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.(ESV)

The poor guy fell asleep then fell out of the third floor window. I guess it’s a good thing that Paul was there.

Acts 20:10 But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.”(ESV)

Paul runs down, prays over the guy, says, “Ok, we’re good here”, then goes back to eat and talk some more. What is worse? Having Paul (one of the most important Christian teachers of his day) bore you to sleep so that you fall out of a window and ide, or having him run down and say, “No, you can’t die. I’m not done talking yet”?

I imagine that this is how every little kid feels while waiting on their parents to do basically anything. I know I did.

I can also imagine that this is how many Christians feel waiting for God to come through on His promises. We didn’t understand as kids what was so important to the adults that was taking so long. We can’t understand in this life the things that God is working on while we wait.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
