When All Else Fails? No, Pray!

Have you prayed today?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (16)Rejoice always, (17)pray without ceasing, (18)give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.(ESV)
Philippians 4:6-7 (6)Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (7)And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.(ESV)
Psalm 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice.(ESV)
Matthew 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread,(ESV)
Luke 18:1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.(ESV)

There is never a time when prayer isn’t appropriate. Prayer is simply us talking to God. Rejoice always because it’s hard to be anxious or angry when you are thankful. Even if the circumstances seem to be against you, be thankful. Be thankful that God is with you through the storm and that you will grow because of the rain. Never be afraid to ask for anything knowing that anything asked for in God’s will in Jesus name will be given.

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.(ESV)

This verse is so often mistranslated. Many people read it to say that if you love God then He will give you anything that you want. That’s not quite what it means. It truly means that if you love God then He will put His desires in your heart. He will replace the things you did want with the things He wants for you. If you wanted things that were bad for you before then He will replace those desires with healthy ones. Then, when you pray, you will no longer be asking for the things you did want but, instead, you will be asking for the things He wants for you and that is a thing guaranteed to be given. When you want what God wants the answer to prayer is always Yes. The only question left then is when and how. That’s where faith comes in. We have to have faith that He will answer those prayers in the right way and at the right time. If we learn to trust in that then we will see immeasurable blessings on our lives.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
