God With Us

26 days until Christmas. Let’s keep rolling with the Christmas advent verse of the day. This verse comes at a time of great fear and division in the nation of Israel. A war is imminent. Two armies are marching towards the destruction of Judah. God made a way. In the way that was made included a prophecy that was much deeper than just the survival of Judah. It was a prophecy for all mankind across all time.

The salvation that is given freely to each of us was not an afterthought that God had after He created the heavens and the earth. There are over three hundred prophecies that foretell of the coming of Jesus. For a person to be born and considered to be the messiah they had to fulfill each and every one. Twenty to twenty-five (depending on how the book is interpreted) of those prophecies are found in the book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.(ESV)

First, a virgin birth. Second, Immanuel literally means “God with us”. This says that the divine will come through the impossible. This is the best proof we have that God is absolutely in control because of the impossibility of this happening by mere random chance.

Immanuel! God with us! Think about what that means for us today. He is STILL with us. He is still working through His plan for each of us. He built into us the desire for relationships because He wants to have one with us. That was no accident. You reading this email was no accident.

The birth of Christ was not just a historical event that we mark each year then move on with out lives. No, it is meant to be a daily reminder of His love and presence with us today.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
