What draws people together? Shared experiences and shared goals. Every life has dizzying highs and crushing lows. There are nights that seem to be never ending where the weight of the world just sits on our chests as if the whole world is trying to squeeze every ounce of energy out of us.
When night is deepest and all hope seems to be lost forever, we need to hold onto one universal and immutable truth found in Psalm 30:5.
Psalm 30:5 For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.(ESV)
The dark cannot overcome the light. The darkness, even with all of the fear and uncertainty, cannot hold back the light of morning. There will be seasons of darkness, struggle, pain, and suffering. Morning is coming. This verse isn’t just a poetic statement; it is the very essence of our hope. It’s assurance that even in the midst of hardships, it’s only temporary. Dawn brings a joy that is not just new but is also a reflection of God’s eternal favor upon us.
If this season is dark, rest. Pray. Be with others in fellowship. Serve. Part of the shared human experience includes enduring long nights together while looking forward to our shared goal of seeing morning when we will rise and say together, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24)(ESV).
Carry this blessing with you in your heart. Let it be a light to your path that guides you through the long night. Actively seek the dawn together so that we may all step into the overwhelming joy of the day that the Lord has prepared for us.
Now, the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).
Amen!
