Seek First

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.(ESV)

Today is a hard lesson. It’s one the bears repeating on blast until every fiber of life itself is simply soaked in it.

It doesn’t matter where we are in our walk with God. It doesn’t matter how bad things seem to be or how terrible we think we are. It doesn’t matter what worries or fears we are facing. It doesn’t matter what challenge that sits in front of us or giant that is starting us down.

There is no worry, anxiety, challenge, problem, obstacle, or anything else that is not smaller than the God we serve. There is no part of this journey that He does not have complete control over outside of those things that we insist in keeping for ourselves.

Read that last part until it sinks in. Anything that we completely turn over to God is in His hands and will be turned to the glory of His kingdom which is ultimately for our benefit.

Seek Him first. Seek His kingdom first. Put Him first. If we are focused on putting Him first then we are not focused on ourselves. When we focus on ourselves, the world image we maintain gets skewed and it becomes so much easier for the enemy to help us to believe the lies and fall into the many snares he has lain for us.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
