We Are Chosen

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.(ESV)

Looking around me, I see a lot of things that were reformed by the hands of man. I see lamps, chairs, walls, and a lot of other evidence that I have an odd method of choosing office supplies. Still, among that odd collection of office supplies, I find my favorite pen, favorite coffee mug, etc. and realize that this collection represents a small selection of a few of my favorite things. I chose these things to be close to me when I work. I chose them to be a part of my daily life in the office.

Mankind has the ability to reshape the world around us. We do not have the ability to create the world around us. That is reserved for the creator. When I look a bit closer and start to marvel and the one who created all of the stuff that we play with to make into all sorts of neat things, I get dumbfounded to think that the one who made all of this for us to play with also chose us. He made us. He chose us. Out of all of the things He created, He chose US. We are His prized possession.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
