Elijah Mocks Baal

1 Kings 18:38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.(ESV)

Elijah received a word from the Lord that a miracles was coming. Elijah understood the significance of this word, but he also understood that to see the blessing he would have to prepare. He called all of Israel together and several prophets of Baal. He challenged them to have their god call down fire to burn an offering. After that failed and he mocked them by saying that Baal must be in the bathroom, he made his own alter and prayed.

If Elijah had received the word and just sat around waiting for it to happen then he would have never seen it. Israel was given the promised land and told that all they had to do was reach out and take it.

When God makes a promise, it often comes with instructions or the expectation of action on our part. Yes, He is capable of making these things happen without us, but it is an act of faith for us to move and prepare for the coming of His miracle.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
