I Know Them

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.(ESV)

Some people get offended when they are called sheep. Others like it, but can’t explain why.

Which animal would you choose to ride through the mountains? A sheep? No.
Which animal would you want to carry your stuff on a long journey? A sheep? No.

Why? Sheep are not load bearing animals. They are not meant to carry any weight. God is trying to tell us something here. He is saying that we are not meant to carry anything. The moment we begin to feel the weight of the world, or the pressures of life, we are called to put it at His feet. Put it down. Stop going back to pick it up. He will carry the burden. He will carry you through the deep waters. He will protect you.

Go get a big glass of water. How much does it weigh? Answers will vary. They will also change depending on how long you hold it. Emotional and spiritual baggage is the same way. Eventually, if we don’t put things down, we will get bogged down and become unmovable. We will not be able to carry anything else. We will start dropping things at times that are not in our control. We will miss out on what the Lord has in mind for us. We will miss His blessings because we were not able to move to where those blessings happen.

Put it down.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
