We Are Chosen

Colossians 3:12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.(ESV)

I don’t normally pull the verse of the day from YouVersion, but today, something jumped out at me and begged to be spoken.

The part about being God’s chosen ones.  We are chosen.  Chosen by God.  Chosen for His purpose.  Chosen for His glory.  The fact that we get to enjoy being a part of His mighty works and see the wonderful things that He is doing is such a blessing.

The enemy wants us to be down because that isolates us from others who remind us of His love and glory.  Our God wants to have a relationship with us that is closer than anything we can see or imagine.  He wants to be a part of every part of our lives.  Not just the highest of highs but the lowest of lows as well.  He cares so much for every detail of our lives.  He know the start by name and counts the hairs on our heads.  He knits us together in the womb with his own hands.

His love is, honestly, a bit overwhelming at times.  It’s so great that it’s hard to comprehend sometimes.  That means it can be easy to miss.  It’s always there, so we don’t really know what life would be like without it.  One thing that I can say for sure about His love is that I want more of it, and He is happy to give it.

Who am I?

I’ve walked a path I didn’t ask for, guided by a God I can’t ignore. I don’t wear titles well—writer, teacher, leader—they fit like borrowed armor. But I know this: I’ve bled truth onto a page, challenged what I was told to swallow, and led only because I refused to follow where I couldn’t see Christ.

I don’t see greatness in the mirror. I see someone ordinary, shaped by pain and made resilient through it. I’m not above anyone. I’m not below anyone. I’m just trying to live what I believe and document the war inside so others know they aren’t alone.

If you’re looking for polished answers, you won’t find them here.
But if you’re looking for honesty, tension, paradox, and a relentless pursuit of truth,
you’re in the right place.

If you’re unsure of what path to follow or disillusioned with the world today and are willing to walk with me along this path I follow, you’ll never be alone. Everyone is welcome and invited to participate as much as they feel comfortable with.

Now, welcome home. I’m Don.
